Understanding the Relationship Between God and Jesus

Many people wonder whether God and Jesus are the same person. To understand this, we need to look at the biblical teaching about the Trinity: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
1. God the Father
God the Father is the eternal Creator of all things. He is distinct as the source of life, wisdom, and authority. Throughout the Bible, God the Father is depicted as the one who sends the Son and the Spirit into the world. He is fully God, yet He is not Jesus nor the Holy Spirit.
2. Jesus the Son
Jesus is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He is not the Father, but He shares the same divine nature. In John 1:1, it says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14), showing that He is God in human form. He carries out the Father's will, teaches, and redeems humanity.
3. The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is also fully God, distinct from the Father and the Son. The Spirit works in the hearts of believers, convicts of sin, guides into truth, and empowers for service. In John 14:26, Jesus promised that the Father would send the Holy Spirit to teach and remind His followers of His words.
4. How They Are One
Although Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct persons, they share the same divine nature. This means they are each fully God, yet there is only one God. This mystery, called the Trinity, is unique to Christian belief. Matthew 28:19 shows this unity: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
