Every day, people wake up, go to work, chase dreams, make money, scroll social media, and try to enjoy life. But very few stop to ask one of the most important questions: **Why are we here? What is the real purpose of life?**
According to the Bible, life isn’t about self-promotion, possessions, or pleasure. The real purpose of life is eternal, not temporary. It’s not found in looking inward, but in looking upward — to the One who created us.
1. We Were Created to Know God
Genesis 1:27 says that we were created in the image of God. That means we were made to reflect His nature, to be in relationship with Him, and to live in fellowship with Him. Life isn’t about building our own kingdom — it’s about walking with the King of Kings.
Jesus confirmed this in John 17:3: “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” Knowing God is not just the goal of eternity — it’s the purpose of life right now.
2. We Were Made to Worship and Glorify Him
Our lives are meant to point to God’s greatness. Isaiah 43:7 says, “Everyone who is called by My name, whom I created for My glory, whom I formed and made.” We were created to reflect God’s beauty, truth, and righteousness in a world full of darkness.
Worship isn’t just singing songs on Sunday — it’s a lifestyle. Romans 12:1 tells us to offer our bodies as “living sacrifices” — everything we do should be an act of worship that brings glory to God.
3. We Were Given a Mission: To Share the Gospel
Jesus didn’t just save us so we could go to Heaven — He saved us to send us. Matthew 28:19-20 gives us the Great Commission: “Go and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
You weren’t born in this generation by accident. You were chosen to shine the light of Christ in a time of great confusion, deception, and distraction. The world is searching — but they don’t know where to look. You can point them to the truth: Jesus.
4. We’re Here to Be Transformed, Not Conformed
Romans 12:2 says: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Most people today are consumed by self — self-image, self-love, self-expression. But the Bible calls us to die to self, and live for Christ (Galatians 2:20).
Our purpose isn’t to blend in with the world but to be set apart — holy, faithful, and filled with love and truth.
5. This Life is a Test, and Eternity is Forever
This life is short — 70 or 80 years at most. Eternity is infinite. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27, “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” What we do with Jesus determines our forever destiny.
God is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but many are rejecting His mercy and truth. A great deception is coming, and many will fall for it — unless they are rooted in the truth of God’s Word and walking with the Holy Spirit (2 Thessalonians 2:9–11).
Final Warning: Don’t Miss the Point of Life
The purpose of life isn’t money, fame, relationships, or success. The purpose is to know God, glorify Him, become like Jesus, and make Him known. Anything less than that is a wasted life.
Time is short. The deception is real. The enemy wants people distracted, disoriented, and deceived. But Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)
Let’s live for what matters most — and help others do the same.
