A great video by my favorite preacher and teacher of all time, Leonard Ravenhill. His teachings go straight to the heart and truly make you stop and think.
Jesus taught us to live in this world but not be of it. Yet so many people spend their lives chasing material possessions, sometimes going deeply into debt just to have things they don't really need.
If your identity and self-worth are based on what you own rather than who you are, then that is truly sad.
**What if one day you lose it all? Who are you then?** Do your friends suddenly disappear? Does your wife leave you because you can no longer provide the lifestyle she's accustomed to?
Material possessions come and go, but your character is something no one can take away from you. It's who you are as a person, how you treat others, and the values you live by that will carry you through life's most difficult moments.
When you treat people with kindness, honesty, and respect, some will never forget it. And sometimes, when you need someone the most, those very people may be the ones who stand beside you.
**At the end of the day, it's not what you have that defines you. It's who you are when everything you have is gone.**
