Ten Reasons To Support Israel

B10

Why Israel Remains at the Center of Global Attention

Lately, there seems to be increasing hostility toward Israel. The nation often finds itself in conflict, defending its borders against surrounding enemies. Biblical prophecy also points to a significant end-time conflict in the region, where nations will attempt to destroy Israel. For believers, it is essential to watch developments in the Middle East closely, as Scripture indicates that Jesus will intervene on behalf of Israel in that final battle.

God's Special Relationship with Israel

The Bible consistently portrays Israel as God's treasured people. In Deuteronomy 7:6, they are called "His people," Psalm 135:4 refers to them as "His treasured possession," and Zechariah 2:8 describes them as "the apple of His eye." God has chosen Israel for a distinct purpose. Zechariah 12:2-3 predicts that Jerusalem will become a source of tension for all surrounding nations, yet God will protect His city despite opposition.

Reason #1: God's Enduring Love for Israel

Jeremiah 31:2-4 expresses God's unwavering affection: even after judgment, His love motivates the restoration of Israel. This everlasting love is similar to the unconditional love Christ shows the Church (Romans 5:8). Believers are encouraged to share in this love, praying for Israel and embracing the people God cherishes.

Reason #2: God Keeps His Covenants

God promised Abraham and his descendants the land of Canaan (Genesis 15:17-18), and He faithfully upholds that covenant. Even when humanity falters, God’s faithfulness remains unchanged (2 Timothy 2:13). His covenant promises to Israel endure, reminding us that God’s word and commitments are eternal.

Reason #3: God's Name is Honored Through Israel

Ezekiel 36 explains that Israel’s restoration is ultimately for God’s holy name. By bringing Israel back to their land, God demonstrates His power and faithfulness to the world (Ezekiel 36:21-24). Even decades after Israel became a modern nation, global attention confirms that God fulfills His promises.

Reason #4: Israel’s Restoration Brings Blessings to the Church

The Apostle Paul teaches that Israel’s revival benefits the entire Church (Romans 11:12, 15). Their return and acceptance unlock spiritual riches and reconciliation for all nations. As John Wesley observed, these prophecies point to a dramatic outpouring of life and blessing upon the world.

Reason #5: We Owe Gratitude to the Jewish People

Paul notes in Romans 15:26-27 that Gentiles owe a debt to Israel, who brought salvation through Christ. Jesus and the Bible’s authors were Jewish, and all foundational elements of the faith emerged from Israel. Supporting Israel acknowledges their pivotal role in God’s plan and expresses gratitude for His provision.

Reason #6: Our Spiritual Roots Lie in Israel

Paul compares Israel and the Church to a cultivated olive tree and wild branches (Romans 11:18). Gentile believers are nourished by the rich heritage of Israel, and we must honor these spiritual roots. Remembering that our faith is grounded in Jerusalem strengthens our appreciation of God’s ongoing plan.

Reason #7: The Time to Support Israel is Now

Psalm 102 emphasizes that God has appointed a “set time” for Israel’s restoration (v. 13). For over a century, God has been actively restoring Zion. Believers should align themselves with His work, offering prayers and support as part of this divine timing.

Reason #8: God Has Renewed His Approach to Israel

Zechariah 8:11-15 reveals a shift in God’s treatment of Israel, from judgment to blessing. Centuries of exile are now replaced with restoration. Observing this change encourages believers to participate in God’s plan, blessing Israel and engaging in His promises.

Reason #9: The Jewish People are the Family of Jesus

Jesus was born a Jew, and even in His glorified form, He is the "Lion of the tribe of Judah" (Revelation 5:5). Supporting Israel is also a way to honor the earthly lineage of Christ, demonstrating reverence for the people from whom salvation came.

Reason #10: Scripture Commands Us to Comfort Israel

Isaiah 40:1 instructs believers to comfort God’s people. This is not optional; it is a divine call for Gentiles to bless and stand alongside Israel, offering support and encouragement as God restores His chosen nation.
